Held for the first time on October 30, 1924 as part of the larger Anaheim Halloween Festival, the Anaheim Halloween Parade is a Southern California family favorite.
The Anaheim Halloween Parade is a glowing nighttime pageant of ghosts, goblins, jack-o’-lanterns, and witches stretching a mile and a half through the darkened streets of downtown Anaheim.
The Parade was first held on October 30th, 1924 as part of the larger Anaheim Halloween Festival that was begun the year before. An estimated 20,000 residents and neighbors from nearby towns crowded onto the sidewalks on both sides of Center Street to watch the 45-minute procession led by baseball superstars Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson.
Now rediscovered by a new generation, the Anaheim Halloween Parade shines on as both a unique form of entertainment and a source of community pride. The Parade provides a platform, like no other, for artists, “makers”, and performers of all kinds to showcase their creativity, supported with sponsorship by local businesses, schools, organizations and residents. The Parade steps off at dusk each year on the Saturday preceding Halloween.
